Over the summer the JV & varsity volleyball teams attended a tournament play camp at U of Memphis that truly helped with team building for the season. “We only had 6 varsity players present all week, and we were a little worried,” said Cindy Dugger, Varsity coach. “But then we surprised ourselves when we played some great teams and beat the majority of them. It was an incredible boost to the beginning of our season.”
Another key part to team building across the grade levels this year was the volleyball big sis/little sis program. At the beginning of the season girls on the 5/6 team were paired with varsity players. Throughout the season, the players left notes of encouragement, small gifts, and other acknowledgements with their partners. “It truly fosters community among the girls,” said Coach Mandy Cantrell. “Everyone seems to love this aspect of the team.”

The teams recently wrapped up their seasons and honored their graduating seniors. The varsity team finished 9-5 for the season, and said goodbye to seniors, Sarah Winston Folk and Laurel Martens.
“Sarah Winston did an incredible job of encouraging the team as captain,” said Ms. Dugger. “The players really listen and respond to her. We will miss our seniors, but look forward to another strong season next year.”
