The Grammar and Middle School cross country teams wrapped up their seasons with their final meets this week. Overall, both teams showed tremendous growth and improvement across the season, with several stand-out runners making names for themselves amongst the field of competitors.

Henry Smith, 5th grader, finished first overall in four out of five meets this season, including placing first overall in the Memphis Youth Athletics Cross Country Championship race. The 3-5 boys team finished fourth out of twenty teams and the girls finished seventh out of 19 teams in the city championship meet this week.
“I am really proud of how they’ve improved across the season,” said Tirzah Rhodes, coach of the 3-5 team. “They can take on so much more now than just four short weeks ago. Their personal perseverance and level of encouragement for one another has really come a long way.”
Eighth grader Will Bostic has also proven himself as one of the top runners in his age group across the city, finishing as the top runner for Westminster in each meet this season and as 14th overall in the city meet last week. Sarah Catherine Donovan, 7th grader, also medaled, placing 11th overall among the females in the city meet. The 5-8 team finished in sixth place overall for the season across all middle school teams.
