May I Have the Word in a Sentence?

It’s spelling bee time! This week, students participated in the annual Westminster Academy spelling bee assembly. The four students from each grade level who were chosen to represent their classes at the morning assembly were:

2nd Grade: Evelyn Bradsher, Nate Grant, Grayson Locke, and Ethan Cummings

3rd Grade: Sloane Ebach, Leslie Richardson, Mary Kathryn Piacentini, and Amos Ozier

4th Grade: Emily Harris, Lizzie Sutton, Irene Jones, and Abigail Nicolas

5th Grade: Gavin Locke, Mullin Gillentine, Sutton Jenkins, and Aubrey Banks

6th Grade: Jennie Statom, Eliana Harris, Mary Tennant Folk, and Mitchell Read

7th Grade: Matthew Zinser, Eden Rainer, Owen Cruse, and Audrey Alberson

8th Grade: Will Dougherty, Will Bostic, Margaret Statom, and Lainey Turner

For the second year in a row, the winner was Lainey Turner! She won with the word “clandestine.” Coming in second place were Eden Rainer, Mullin Gillentine, and Emily Harris. And in third place there was a tie between fourth graders Irene Jones and Lizzie Sutton.

Bravo to all of the competitors for their courage and hard work!
