We are incredibly excited to welcome Amy Callis to the PE Department! Amy is an alum of Westminster who graduated in 2003 and went on to study education at Critchon College. After college, she was an Athletic Director and ran the PE program at an international school in Ghana for two years. She has since lived in the midwest and the southwest, but is excited to be back in Memphis near family and to be teaching in the PE department at Westminster Academy.
“I love the body, moving and jumping, laughing and sweating, failing then persevering, it is all part of the gift! Teaching children to use their bodies and enjoy the l gift of exercise and skillful movement will provide so much joy (and some character building as well)!”
Amy’s husband, Jonathan, is the new Head of Upper School at Westminster Academy, and they recently returned to Memphis with their five children. Amy says she enjoys trying new food and drink, exploring the world with her children, and any form of exercise. She also enjoys growing plants, and reading. The top three books she would recommend are Marriage to a Difficult Man: The uncommon Union of Jonathan and Sarah Edwards by Dodds, Anna Karenina by Tolstoy, and The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen.
Please join us in welcoming their entire family to the Westminster community!
