Please join us in welcoming Becca Mathews to the Westminster family! This is her first week teaching with us, and we are thrilled to add her to our phenomenal team. Becca just moved to Memphis from Oklahoma via Minnesota, where she spent the summer. She has a Math degree from Oklahoma Baptist University with a minor in education, and she is excited to dig in with the students in her first teaching position. She comes with extensive tutoring experience and as an education minor, she has “a deep understanding of the mechanics of a good classroom.” Becca also says she was “attracted to the high quality of education and challenge to excellence among both the students and faculty at Westminster.”
During her summer in Minnesota, Becca visited a different state park almost every weekend. In her free time, you can find her reading or watching a documentary, and she would recommend people read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman, and Abolition of Man by C.S. Lewis.
Becca tells us she loves talking about math, and she is “so looking forward to getting to know the students and share with them the beauty of math!”
Please give her a warm welcome if you see her around campus!
