Welcome to Mr. Matt Bell, our new Grammar School Latin teacher. He is taking over for Ms. Mary Hollidge, who has transitioned to teaching Upper School Latin, as well as taking over the duties of managing the WA Aftercare program. 

Mr. Bell is originally from Sugar Land, Texas, but he earned his Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Memphis. He is no newbie to teaching foreign languages, as he has been teaching Spanish for many years, and Latin for the past three years. He says, “I love languages and believe in the importance of Latin!” And one thing that Mr. Bell says he is excited about this year is “singing, chanting, and making language fun for grammar school kids!” 

Matt is married to Priscilla and they have a six month old baby girl, Lucy. The family attends Grace Chapel Church, and in his free time, Matt says he enjoys reading, road trips, and singing hymns. He has a passion for classical education, and says that three books he would recommend reading are Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, A House for My Name by Peter J. Leithart, Plato’s Apology.
