They Came, They Tested, They Conquered: 2018 National Latin Exam Winners

Westminster Academy students in Latin I and II recently took the National Latin Exam, which is sponsored by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. The exam provides Latin students the opportunity to experience a sense of personal accomplishment and success in their study of the Latin language and culture. There are questions on grammar, comprehension, mythology, derivatives, literature, Roman life, history, geography, oral Latin, and Latin in use in the modern world.
The exams were scored and ranked, and all students who scored above the national average were awarded one of four prizes depending on their performance. The awards are Gold Medal (Summa Cum Laude), Silver Medal (Maxima Cum Laude), Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude. Of the 43 Westminster students who took the exam, 24 were awarded with an honor. The awards were as follows:
