U.S. Representative Visits Westminster 7th Grade

U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-AL) recently paid a visit to the 7th graders at Westminster Academy. The class is learning about the process of a bill becoming a law, and about how Congress works. Rep. Roby spoke to the class about the work she does in the House, and discussed her involvement in serving on both the House Committee on Appropriations and the House Judiciary Committee. Rep. Roby went on to explain to the students about splitting her time between D.C. and her home district, and what it means to be a good leader to her constituents. She stressed the importance of listening to, understanding, and informing her constituents about issues that matter to them, and she mentioned that good leaders have relationships with and listen to those they lead.
Students in the classroom commented on the impact of the presentation by saying “it helped me understand more fully what happens when you vote on a bill, and what happens in the House.”
Mrs. Shaunak also noted that “it was very beneficial for the class to meet her and hear her speak!”
