The fifth grade state float parade is a long held Westminster tradition. Every year, fifth graders have chosen one of the original thirteen colonies to study, create a float, then present to their peers in class. Mrs. Hickman and Mrs. Dougherty decided to allow the students to broaden their choices. After memorizing and writing all fifty states and capitals, the students completed several weeks of research about their chosen state. The state floats were created to reflect the student research. On the day of the parade, the students recited the pledge of allegiance and sang the National Anthem before processing down the halls of the Lower School.
