In History, we ended our “Age of Exploration” unit with the “Mercantilism Simulation Game.” We divided into rival nations and had to claim countries with valuable exports and control trade routes. By playing this game, we came to understand the need to export more than a country imports. Furthermore, different teams used various strategies to gain control of vital waterways.
Round One of the “Mercantilism Game” is over! In Mrs. D’s class, Spain controls the most trade routes and exports items such as gold and spices. In Mrs. H’s room, France controls the waterways and exports more goods than any other country. Everyone had a great time using critical thinking skills.
We voted to play this game again! Who knew history and economics could be so fun?
