Senior Thesis Title: Me, Myself, and I: The Rise Of Self In The Modern Age
Senior Thesis Statement: Because of the rise of self/individualism in modern art, social media, and sexual identity, the world is filled with chaos.
Brief Description of Senior Thesis: The modern age is filled with chaos, and I argue that this is because of the rise of the importance of self. Through areas such as art, sexual identity, and social media, the world is given meaning by the individual who is granted omnipotent power over the formation of self. This is a rejection of traditional identity formation found in family, religion and relationship. The result is emptiness, loss, and disintegration of the self. What can restore and heal such destruction?
Post Graduation Plans: To double major in nursing and music performance at the University of Kentucky
Favorite Bible Verse: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1
Prayer Request: Please ask God for guidance through this foggy period of life.
