Senior Thesis Statement: The disability community, particularly the Deaf community, is a people group that the church has ample opportunity to minister to— and art, though often secular, just might hold the key to bridging the gap between Deaf and Hearing people within the church.

Brief Description of Senior Thesis: My Senior Thesis focuses on the church’s history of both intentionally and unintentionally excluding disabled people, and how certain aspects of disabled culture (specifically Deaf musical theatre) can help churches become more welcoming, accessible places of worship.

College Choice OR how you plan to spend next year?  I will be attending The King’s College in NYC where I plan on doing King’s Media, Culture, and the Arts major, focusing on musical theatre acting and costume design.

What advice or encouragement would you give to younger students at Westminster? Don’t sweat it if you get a bad grade (or several bad grades. or fail a course). I ended up doing eleventh grade twice (which in the moment felt not so great) and it all worked out for the better because I met a bunch of cool Westminster people and had more time before college to explore my interests! School can feel very high-pressure but I promise you, you’ll end up where you’re meant to be :). God’s got you and having an unconventional high school path won’t change that.

Please share a funny memory or highlight from your time at Westminster: Honestly? I’m a big fan of our class’s Christmas decorations. The stolen traffic cone really added to the festive vibe, I think.

Favorite Bible Verse: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
