Did you know there will be a Blues City Thrift truck accepting donations at Westminster all week? Do you know why you should consider supporting them with your donations?
In 2009, a group of Westminster fathers came up with the idea of creating a thrift store with the aim of giving proceeds back to faith-based organizations every month. From ideation to store opening, it took them almost three years and countless hours of hard work. They collected donations, renovated the retail space, and solidified their vision. Upon opening, they decided that one of the main beneficiaries of Blues City Thrift would be Westminster Academy’s Doler Scholarship fund, which allows families to attend Westminster who might not otherwise have the means to pay for the education. Seven years later, Blues City Thrift STILL sends a check to Westminster every single month!
In addition to Westminster’s scholarship fund, Blues City Thrift currently supports Church Health Center and Youth Leadership Memphis with monthly donations. And for the past two years, Blues City Thrift has made a sizeable donation to the Hannah’s Hope/WA4MDA muscle walk team. The thrift store also provides roughly a dozen jobs to local Memphians, some of whom are not currently able to work in other jobs.
Blues City would love to take your donations of clothing, electronics, books, furniture, housewares, or kitchen items. The truck will be parked in front of the CLC gym from 7-10 am and 2-4 pm every day this week. Any donations they receive that cannot be sold in the store will be donated on to other charities who can use them.
If you don’t have anything to donate, there are other ways you can help! You can shop Blues City Thrift. You can pray for Blues City Thrift. You can volunteer at Blues City Thrift, as they are always looking for faithful, consistent helpers. Or you can make a tax-deductible monetary donation to Blues City Thrift.
By helping BCT, you are helping Westminster Academy!
