Classical Literature lends itself to many things here at Westminster Academy. It is a way for our lower and upper school students to interact during our annual Olympic games. It provides yet another opportunity for our Seniors to preside over us as the gods and goddesses they have become. And, most of all, it is the time when our Juniors can delve deeply into the writings of our Greek and Roman forebears. We explore the writings of Homer, Aeschylus, Euripides, and Sophocles during the first semester. We have completed Aeschylus’ trilogy, The Oresteia, which takes us from the dark and savage days of continual blood-feuding all the way to the birth of democracy.
