At the end of the 2nd semester, Westminster Academy Art History students complete a three-part project highlighting an artist of their choice in lieu of a written exam. Part one is a seven-hundred-fifty word paper that includes biographical information about their chosen artist; the social, political, cultural, and religious climate when the artist was active; and the training that the artist received. For the second part, the student creates a finished piece of art that is either a copy of one of the works by their chosen artist, or an original piece in the style of that artist. Finally, on exam day, the students present their finished work to the rest of the class, giving a brief overview of their artist.
