Why A Christian Education?

Classical Christian education is the cultivation of virtue and wisdom by nourishing the soul on truth, goodness, and beauty according to God’s Revelation. Our purpose is to train the soul to love that which is worth loving. With Scripture as the foundation and lens for truth, our goal is to help our students understand who God is, who they are, why they are here, and how they might flourish as human beings to become all that God intends.

We believe that all truth is God’s truth, and in that realization, we are able to effectively integrate and unify the disciplines, asking how each discipline further gives us insight into the character and nature of God, the creator and source of all truth. Our students graduate understanding that truth is not compartmentalized and fragmented, but rather understanding the unity of truth under the lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture.

We believe children are made in the image of God, so they have great value and worth. We dignify that imago Dei by treating students with respect, by giving credence to their opinions, by asking for their input in their education.

We also believe that students are “glorious ruins,” affected by the fall and subject to the effects of sin. We are not surprised when students make mistakes or get themselves into trouble. We view these as opportunities to come alongside students, partnering with parents, to discipline and train in Christian character.

We believe that all people have been uniquely gifted by God, and sometimes those gifts are not only demonstrated in the classroom. We are dedicated to helping students recognize and appreciate their talents, be they academic, athletic, musical, social, or artistic talents.

In every aspect of the school, from poetry to PE, literature to Latin, art to arithmetic, we seek to demonstrate the lordship of Christ, believing, with Abraham Kuyper, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!”
