What advice or encouragement would you give to younger students at Westminster?: Don’t wait until the last minute to do long term assignments. Also, if art isn’t your thing, try to spend as much time as you can doing it at school as early as you can.
Please share a funny memory or highlight from your time at Westminster: After Mock Trial ended this year, the team had a fake mock trial where the witnesses were lawyers, the lawyers were witnesses, the bailiffs were judges, Eli was the juror, and Coach Davis was a witness. It was a very rowdy trial. Somehow we were able to finish the trial before 5th period, with the juror siding with the Defense while the judges chose the Plaintiff.
Senior Thesis Title: The Importance of Parental Influence on the Child
Senior Thesis Statement: Parents should be more involved in their children’s education, since it is the role of parents to teach their children, it has a positive impact on the rest of their lives, and public institutions can not be trusted to raise children.
Brief Description of Senior Thesis: I wanted to understand how important parental influence is to a child. I found that it had quite an impact and because I’ve heard of many incidents where parents didn’t teach their children the way they should have, I wanted to further explore why parents should teach their children. I further explain in the thesis why parental impact is important (such as how their unique role in the child’s life grants them distinct opportunities to raise them that others don’t have), the overall benefits for children if their parents are in involved in their upbringing, and that parents ought to be the primary influence for how their children are raised.
Post Graduation Plans: To attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville to study pre-med.
Favorite Bible Verse: “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” (Psalm 139:14)
Prayer Request: That my classmates and I don’t give in to our nerves when delivering our speeches.
