Less of a welcome and more of a reintroduction, today’s feature is our new chief financial officer Jay Brownlow. He is no stranger to the halls of Westminster Academy, having attended the school since first grade and graduating as the school’s 100th graduate in 2009! Jay went on to obtain a BBA in Accounting from Harding University, and was most recently the school’s bookkeeper before being promoted to CFO.
Of his experience in the field, he says, “I actually first got into accounting when I was elected 9th grade treasurer, which I continued to do all of high school. This was back when students raised money for the senior trip to Italy. I had great classmates with great ideas and I was able to get lots of good accounting experience. So, I got my degree in accounting and have worked in the finance world in one way or another since graduation. I love puzzles and seeing a beautiful spreadsheet come together!”
Jay attends Redeemer Presbyterian Church, and in his free time he enjoys playing board games, tackling tech projects, and reading. Books he recommends include The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Harry Potter series, and The Principal of the Path by Andy Stanley.
Of his new role, Jay says, “I am excited to be able to give back to the school even more this year in my new role. I am excited to be here to take care of the finance details and plan for the future of the school!”
